 Change All the Pieces Picture-Side-Up

The very  first thing one is expected to do  when the puzzle box is open is to spread it out on the table on a smooth  surface.

Then,  turn every single piece over so the picture side is facing upward.

This may sounds a little tedious and demanding  but its truly golden.

It will make fixing the puzzle together much easier!

 Sort Pieces Into Groups

While you’re turning pieces over, start sorting them.

Its best and advisable to set aside all the  edge pieces  into a separate pile.

Its  also ideal to begin sorting interior pieces into smaller piles based on what section of the puzzle they appear to be from.

jigsaw puzzles come in different varieties of piece counts.

Sample Sorting Groups

A typical  example of sorting  can be like this, lets say one doing a puzzle with beach sand, sky view, ocean view and charlets and picnikers in the foreground.

A sample group of piles might look something like this :

  •         Every single edge piece you can find, its okay if there are few ones that are left behind, they will eventually turn up later.
  •          Pieces with a Charlets on them.
  •          Pieces  with other bits of foreground on them (ocean? beach sand? plant?).
  •           Pieces with a  images of the picknickers  on them.
  •            Pieces with the sky on them which may sometimes separated further into either  blue or  cloudy.

Most of puzzle enthusiasts in my network usually starts a puzzle with about 4 to 6 rough groupings of pieces.

Fix  the Border

Once the pieces have been  separated out into a few piles, the next thing is to start   assembling the puzzle.

It’s advisable  to commence with the border, because that  set out the boundaries and defines the space one will be working in to fix other pieces .

Again, don’t worry  if you’re missing a couple of pieces they’ll eventually  turn up sooner than one is expected.

Fix together  by Sorting Groups, Colors, and Patterns

The next  is to start working through the other piles.

In cases, where one is completing  the puzzle with friends or loved ones, it’s best to assign one pile per one to two  people.

We usually start with the easy stuff to prevent  disappointment  early on and giving up.

In the example ocean view scene puzzle described above, the easy stuff is likely to be the charlets and the image of the picnickers.

Right Color, Wrong Pattern!

For a lots of  puzzle enthusiasts across different age groups, color is the easiest way to find matching pieces,

There are occasions where colours will be right but the piece might have a different patterns on the puzzle piece.

Great attention to detail is important when sorting through colours so as to ensure patterns are also align as well.

Close  Attention To Piece Shapes

One other  important thing to pay attention to is the shape of the piece.

Jigsaw puzzle pieces come in six basic shapes, ranging from pocket, sockets, slots, innies, locks and female .

The more  versatile one is  in puzzling, the more easily he or she will be  able to tell at once  if a particular  piece has the slightest chance of fitting where  it is to  be fix.

Extended Sorting Will Help

There is always need to have extended sorting of the  different pieces as the puzzle progresses into the harder sections,

Many experienced enthusiasts will start  start dividing pieces into small piles with similar colours, patterns, and shapes etc.

For instance, all  ocean colour with  sky with two holes and two knobs go together in one pile,

All images of  the picnickers  with three knobs and one hole go together in another, etc.

That way, it is very easy to find any piece once one is sure that it has at least two knobs,

One  can easily ignore every piece from the four-hole and three-hole piles without wasting your time sorting through them or testing them.

6. Spread It Out

Everyone agrees that , jigsaw puzzles make great family time and bonding activities.

In the interest of family peace, however, it’s very important to be sure that you spread the jigsaw puzzle out on a large table or smooth flat surface.

It needs to be big enough such all participants are free without stepping on eachother toes while trying to put the puzzle together!
