• The National Theatre is an architectural masterpiece and a cultural landmark located at Iganmu, in the heart of Lagos.

• The design for this edifice was taken from the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, Bulgaria. The Contract for its construction was signed on April 24, 1973.

• The National Arts Theatre was designed and constructed by Bulgarian construction company,Techno Exporstroy.

• Alhaji Sule Katagum was a co owner and also their Chairman. it resembles the Palace of Culture and Sport in Varna, Bulgaria and was completed in 1968.

• The  National Arts Theatre Lagos  is bigger than  the original Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, Bulgaria.

• Gen. Yakubu Gowon’s regime  commissioned   the Bulgarians construction company called Techno exportsroy as the main constructors for the building of the complex.

• It is easily accessible from every corner of the city. Covering an area of about 23,000 square meters and standing well over 31 metre tall.

• The multipurpose Nation Theatre was established for preservation, presentation and promotion of Arts and Culture in Nigeria.
• The filming for the “Keys to the Kingdom” video in  Beyonce’s  visual album Black is King  took place at the National Arts Theatre, Lagos .

• National Theatre has  8,726 light points  that is made up of 1,003 incandescent bulbs and 7723 fluorescent tubes.

• National Theatre can handle up to 12 events simultaneously with sufficient parking space aside the 250 capacity underground car park. It has 7 floors and its about 31m in heights with 23,000 square metres in area.
